Offshore sports gambling pertains to gambling establishments that are governed by a country other than your own. Usually in a foreign location or on waterways not governed by the laws of your country.
The US is waging war on gambling which will affect more than internet gambling operators it will affect local government too. A group of loosely connected betting agents where arrested in Arizona. The agents had set up an internet gambling site and encouraged residents to set up internet gambling accounts. One of the businesses that have been affected was not told why his business is under the gun. The owner swears he had nothing to do with internet betting and now his business has been given a bad name.
There is a rumor that Kentucky will be able to gamble legally in the near future. They are thinking about placing the subject of legalized gambling on the ballot for the people of Kentucky to vote on. There are already river boats with gambling on board operating on the rivers. There is also the Kentucky Derby where the on track betting was over $12 million, offtrack betting was in excess of $106 million.
Horse racing isn’t the only betting going on in States across American, there are internet based gambling sites, Texas Hold ‘Em is played in neighborhoods and is legal as long as the house doesn’t take a piece of the action. Think of all the Bingo games near you, this is a form of gambling.
The riverboat casinos on the Mississippi and Ohio rivers advertise in Kentucky, and the casino ships in Florida do the same there. Gambling is a part of everyday life, if we aren’t participating in it we are hearing about it. People will find a way to gamble no matter what is done to prevent it. If this is what they choose to do, can anything stop them when there is so much opportunity close at hand?
I truly do not know why the government is fighting legalizing gambling and then putting restrictions in place so that we are not over-run with gambling establishments. I have visited the nearby Chippewa- Ottawa Casino, I don’t feel a need to go there but it allows me to unwind and do something a bit different.
